When Should You Use Add Cash?

Use Add Cash only when the drawer physically receives money that is not already explained by a normal register transaction.

Appropriate examples

  • Adding an approved starting or supplemental float
  • Returning previously removed store cash to the drawer
  • Adding cash from a documented prior-day source under store policy

Do not create an Add Cash entry for a normal cash sale, and do not use it simply to force a shortage to appear balanced. Record and investigate the real cause.
