Appearance & Navigation Choose the toolbar shortcut and startup page that fit your business, and use desktop page tabs to switch between open work areas without losing your place. Choose Your Main Experience Choose whether Home or Register appears in the toolbar and decide which page opens first. How Appearance Settings Organize Your Workspace Open Settings → Appearance to configure navigation around your store’s main workflow. These settings do not remove modules or permissions. They determine what is easiest to reach and what opens first. Use the toolbar shortcut for a frequently visited destination. Use Priority Page for the screen this workstation should begin with. Use Page Tabs when desktop employees need to move among several open work areas. Some options appear only when the related module is enabled for your business. How to Choose Home or Register for the Toolbar Open Settings → Appearance. Find Toolbar Shortcut. Choose Home if employees should reach the business dashboard directly from the top toolbar. Choose Register if sales checkout should be the prominent toolbar destination. Save the Appearance settings. The destination not selected for the toolbar remains available through the navigation panel. This choice changes convenience, not access. How to Choose an Appearance for Different Workstations Different workstations can use different navigation priorities. Sales counter: place Register in the toolbar and make Register the priority page. Repair intake: make Repair Home the priority page and keep fast access to the register when payments are needed. Manager station: place Home in the toolbar for quick dashboard access and enable page tabs for multitasking. Priority Page and Page Tabs are stored for the current device/browser. Configure them on each workstation according to its role. Priority Page Open Register, Repair Home, or another available primary workspace first on this device. What Is the Priority Page? The Priority Page is the main workspace this device opens after sign-in or after a completed checkout returns to normal navigation. Available choices may include: Register Repair Home, when the repair module is enabled Ordering Register, when the ordering module is enabled “Priority tab” and “priority page” refer to this same startup preference. It is not the same as enabling the multi-page tab system. How to Make Register the First Page Open Settings → Appearance. Find Priority Page. Select Register. Save your changes. Use this setup for sales-focused workstations where employees should be ready to search products and start checkout immediately. How to Make Repair Home the First Page Open Settings → Appearance. Find Priority Page. Select Repair Home. Save your changes. Use this setup for repair-intake or technician workstations. Employees will begin in the repair workspace, while Register and other authorized modules remain available through navigation. If Repair Home is not listed, confirm that the repair module is enabled. Desktop Page Tabs Keep supported pages open as tabs and switch between workspaces without repeatedly navigating back. What Is the Desktop Page Tab System? Normally, opening another area replaces the page currently displayed, so returning may require navigating back or reopening it. Page Tabs turns supported desktop work areas into tabs across the top of the workspace. Benefits Keep several full pages available at once. Switch between Register, Repair, Settings, and other supported work without repeatedly navigating through menus. Preserve the route and context of each open workspace. Close pages you no longer need while keeping the main Register tab available. Page Tabs is a desktop workspace feature and is not enabled on smaller mobile layouts. How to Turn Page Tabs On or Off Use a desktop-sized workstation. Open Settings → Appearance. Find Use Page Tabs. Turn it on to keep supported pages open as tabs, or off to use standard single-page navigation. Save the Appearance settings. The tab setting applies to the current device/browser. Repeat the setup on another workstation if that computer should also use tabs. If the control is unavailable, confirm you are using a supported desktop layout. How to Open and Switch Between Page Tabs Enable Use Page Tabs. Open a supported module or page from the navigation menu. Open another work area. It appears as another tab in the top workspace. Select a tab to return to that page without navigating back through menus. Use the tab arrows when more tabs are open than fit across the toolbar. The active tab is visually highlighted. Tabs use page names—and, where supported, record-specific names—to help you identify the open work. How to Close Page Tabs Safely Finish or save any work on the page. Select the close icon on the tab you no longer need. Continue in the tab that becomes active. The main Register tab remains pinned and cannot be closed. Other tabs can be closed when they are no longer needed. Closing a tab closes the workspace view; it should not be treated as a substitute for saving, submitting, completing, or canceling the task inside that page. Appearance Troubleshooting Understand device-specific behavior and resolve unexpected toolbar, startup-page, or tab behavior. Why Is My Priority Page Different on Another Computer? Priority Page and Page Tabs are saved in the current device/browser. A selection made on the repair counter does not automatically change the preference on another workstation or browser profile. Open RepairNest POS on the affected device. Go to Settings → Appearance. Select the desired Priority Page and Page Tabs setting. Save. This device-specific behavior allows sales, repair, and management workstations to use different startup experiences. Why Is Repair Home Missing from Priority Page? Priority Page only lists workspaces available to the current business configuration. Repair Home appears when the repair module is enabled. Ordering Register appears when the ordering module is enabled. Register remains the standard fallback. If an expected option is missing, confirm the module is active and refresh the software. Access may also depend on the employee’s authorized features. Appearance and Page Tabs Troubleshooting The toolbar still shows the old shortcut Return to Settings → Appearance, confirm Home or Register, save, and refresh if necessary. The software opens the wrong page Set Priority Page on that exact device and browser, then save. If a previously selected module is no longer available, the system falls back to Register. Use Page Tabs is disabled The feature requires a supported desktop layout. It is disabled on smaller screens. A page did not become a separate tab Only supported full workspace routes become tabs. Some dialogs and embedded views remain inside their current page. I lost unsaved work after closing a tab Always save, submit, or cancel the task before closing its tab. Appearance & Navigation: Complete Guide Appearance settings let each workstation emphasize the part of RepairNest POS that matters most to its job. You can choose Whether Home or Register appears as the prominent toolbar shortcut. Which available workspace opens first after sign-in or checkout. Whether supported desktop pages remain open as switchable tabs. A repair-focused counter may open Repair Home first, while a sales counter may start at Register. These choices streamline navigation without removing access to the rest of the software. Light & Dark Mode Choose a light or dark interface and store the preference for each employee. Light Mode vs. Dark Mode RepairNest POS supports both light and dark appearance modes. Light mode uses a bright background and is often preferred in well-lit environments. Dark mode uses darker surfaces and may feel more comfortable to employees working in low-light conditions or who prefer reduced screen brightness. The choice does not change the employee’s permissions, data, or available modules. It changes how the interface is presented. How to Change Your Own Light or Dark Mode Select your employee avatar or user menu in the upper-right corner. Select the pencil icon beside your profile. Find Appearance. Choose Light or Dark. Save the employee profile. When you edit your own profile, RepairNest POS applies the selected appearance to your current session and remembers it as your employee preference. How to Set Appearance for an Employee Open the employee list with the required permission. Edit the employee. Find the Appearance field. Select Light or Dark. Save the employee record. This allows each employee to use the interface that works best for them. One employee may prefer light mode while another uses dark mode on the same POS system. How Employee Appearance Preferences Work Appearance is stored with the employee profile. When an employee signs in, RepairNest POS applies that employee’s Light or Dark preference. This is useful on shared workstations because the visual mode can follow the person using the software rather than forcing every employee to use the same display. If no valid appearance is saved, the system uses Light mode as the safe default. If an appearance seems incorrect, edit and save the employee profile, then sign in again or refresh the session.
